A hybrid vehicle is one that combines the best features of two different energy sources, one of which is electric power. An internal combustion engine (ICE) running on gasoline, diesel, or an alternative fuel/fuel mixture is teamed with battery-driven electric power and a mechanism for storing the energy normally wasted in braking.
